I know from flying small planes that a cat and a duck were always useful tools when flying in reduced visibility. You put the cat on the daskboard, because you know cats always end up on their feet. That helps keep your wings level.
The duck? Well, everyone know that ducks don't like to fly in clouds. So you throw the duck out the window and follow him down to better weather.
