And ending the welfare system as it used to exist was something that needed to happen. Where did all those people go? Fortunately, at the same time Clinton ended welfare, he also engineered the longest economic boom in history, complete with budget surpluses. So all those people went and got jobs as they should have.
What I am saying is that many of the current unemployed arent just lazy spongers. Sure we still have some them or at least wannabe spongers. But I know an increasing number who are unemployed through no fault of their own. And they arent sitting on their asses waiting for a handout either. Some of them are about to run out of unemployment and have taken to poaching deer to feed their families. Now much as I like the idea of killing the deer that keep trying to commit suicide by running in front of my car, I think those people could use some help. To make fun of them or pretend that they should just suck it up is not what I call neighborly.
