No sck, WE is not the taxpayers, WE is the US Treasury. And since I can guarantee you that there will be no provision to direct that money towards the deficits it helps cause, it will go directly into more government spending.
Mere weeks before the collapse of Fannie and Freddie, the appropriate Congressional chairman that oversee Financial matters, ASSURED us there was no problem with them. That alone is enough to make me want them as far away from the banks as possible. Not to mention, that any economic benefit from congressional action will be wholly dependent on political, not economic, calculations.
Evidently, your idea of "failed economic policy", in light of current economic policy, is that the GOP didn't spend enough.
