can you see the computer in the cockpit, at the helm? Especially single handed, the computer down below won't be easy to consult. With all the deals available on plotters today, I'd want a plotter at the helm.
If you want the
radar to interface with the computer, you will spend a lot of money for the software to do that. Plotters are cheaper, much easier to read in daylight, are more durable than a PC and consume less power.
Seaclear II is free. Works well if you can get past the limited documentation. You can buy discs off e-bay that have seaclear AND all the US govt
charts preloaded onto one disc. About $10. Works pretty well and for me acts as a decent back up to the plotter at the helm.
