General HULL TYPES - Pros/Cons?
Wood? Great "feel", too labor intensive
Fiberglass? Most suitable for recreational use due to cost and repairability.
Steel? Generally hard chine designs, may be great or bad.
Aluminum? Hard skill level required to do it right
Composite? You mean cored hulls ? opinion divided due to repair difficulty if water infiltrates foam (or Balsa) core material.
Ferro-Cement? Run away, low cost method popular in the 70''s for homebuilt hulls, what happens when you soak cement and re-bar in saltwater for 30 years?
Others?
