Thanks for the info- Is thiokol(sp?) the caulk of choice? Any brand names or sources for it? I do plan to glass a much larger area for strength, as well as beefing up the backing for the stanchion. I guess once one gets over the initial anxiety of removing undamaged portions the job should be straight forward. Now if only I had an 8'' lathe to make the new bowsprit..........
