Greg - I've been really pleased with my 28 all around. I was concerned initially about the shoal draft and how it would effect performance, but in my little PHRF club, I posted a 1st, two 2nds, and a 5th (first race with the new boat).

The deep draft probably points a degree higher than I can and doesn't slip off as much to leeward. But I've gotten to 7's on the knot meter on a close reach. Playing the traveller helps with the weather helm and I haven't had any spin outs from rounding up in a gust. Lake sailing here in NC you get a bit of every type of wind - often in the same outing.

I've only found one link that's good for the 28-2. There's a lot out there on the 28 but the Mk2 was a short run and I'm not even sure how many they produced before they went BK.

Here's a link to the measurements for the sail plan. Cal 28 Sailboat Cal Boats Jensen Marine Cal 28 Bill Lathrop Jack Jensen Good Old Boat
It's got all the Cal's in there so be sure you pull up the 28-2.

How are you liking your new boat so far?
