Exactly - he said that carefully right after a meeting with his economic advisers...who probably offered some "glimmers". But, of course, they don't know either.

The point is that I think most of them actually want it to get better and are doing their work in an attempt to make it so. That does not make it easy, nor their actions always right.

Even though we like to say History Repeats Itself, it really never does. These are complex matters, and there are literally trillions of possibilities. As we know, the number of moves on a regular chess board is as numerous as the atoms on the earth (or something like that).

Now, if one simple game has that many moves, consider how ridiculous it is for us to assume the complex relationships of billions of people, markets and forces........

That is precisely why I never really "know" anything. All you can do is guess and sometimes "feel" the direction of things.
