You sound like my perverted uncle when I told him I became a vegetarian. He looked at me and my (beautiful) wife and said "yeah, I'm sure you still eat meat"......and kept saying it until I winked that I understood what he was saying.
On a more serious note, it is accurate to say that the country is swinging to the left. No doubt. In a general sense, the people saw what happened when they believed the lies of the right. They didn't like the result. So the pendulum swings.
On the other hand, we are certainly not a "leftist" nation by any means. I have little doubt that we will (unfortunately, in m view) swing right again in the future. That means, if you live long enough, you will be here gloating "we won, we won"
