You should do yourselves a favor and read some books or find someone to show you the ropes (which by the way are
lines, or more specifically, sheets, halyards, etc. on a sailboat.) As soon as you put it on a boat, it gets a different name. The names aren't important. Knowing what they do, however, is vital.
