I''m looking for a boat I can learn to sail and possibly take around the world. The best "deals" in the ''25-''30 range are 1970''s Newports in terms of cost. Why are they less expensive/what is the tragic flaw? I''ve been looking for a pro/con analysis of the different makes and models in this class on the net but can''t find it. If it is in poor taste to criticize particulars, I apologize. Thanks for any links/suggestions. Finally, if you were to move to San Diego to take up sailing with the hopes of vacationing indefinitely in the Sea of Cortez on a budget, what boat/school/marina would you recommend? Thanks again!
