anchor rode

A 28 Ft moderate displacement (7300#) boat is likely to require about 700 pound working load capacity, 1400 Lbs for a Storm Anchor, or 2100# for a Permanent Mooring.

Various Working Load Limits in Pounds:
Ĺ" Three-Strand Nylon Rope = 709# WLL (Stretches to 150%, Good Shock Absorption)
Ĺ" Double-Braid = 816 # (Stretches to 130%, Fair Shock absorption)
3/4" Three-Strand = 1598#
3/4" Double-Braid = 1813#
1/4" Hi-Test Chain = 2600#WLL
5/16" Proof Coil Galv. Chain = 1900#
3/8" Proof Coil Galv. Chain = 2650#

Unless itís very large (you didnít specify), your Danforth anchor is very likely to be the limiting factor (weak link).

Iíd probably use Ĺ" (or 5/8" @ 1114# WLL) Three-Strand Nylon.

FWIW,
Gord
