Not exactly. His buddy Ben had invented the baffled and circulating metal fireplace in 1742, long before George was pontificating on guns. The open hearth fireplace WAS made obsolete by this invention.

His attitude toward his slaves shows us something that seems to be missing today - that is the ability to CHANGE based on ongoing education.

As to his opinion on the second amendment, I do agree with that based on the time and place he lived, and still largely agree with it.
