ummm, uhhh, buy a new internally ballasted coil. The baklite has probably broken down over the decades.
It'll set you back about 25.00 at your loccal auto parts store.
cut and re-crimp the (+) and (-) side wires, slather a little grease over the connections & have multiple adult beverages to celebrate your mastery over all things atomic-4.
