Garmin 540?

Anyone here have the Garmin 540 and dislike it in any way? I need a chartplotter, and have a budget of about $600. I'm looking at the 540s. On the web, there's endless discussion on handhelds, very little on chartplotters. No in depth reviews.

Seems like an ok, basic setup. For the price, I don't see much else to compare? Standard Horizon, once you buy the charts and the sounder the price is much higher.

It's either the 540s or the Oregon handheld. I actually kind of like the idea of a handheld. I don't mind the smaller screen since I can keep it next to me. Plus, I've always used handhelds. Trouble with the handheld is that I miss out on the sounder feature. Lead lines get old.

I'm a coastal sailer, not looking to cross oceans.

What say you???
