I used a moisture meter to scope out my deck. Took a eraseable, whiteboard marker and just started measureing and writing down numbers. I did this all around the cabin and near the chainplates first. The numbers were REALLY bad.
So it REALLY pays to know what the numbers are - and what the mositure is... My boat would not be one someone else wouldwant to restore.
Just pays to know. ALso to look for corrosion. It is QUITE POSSIBLE to snap those stainless steel rig mounting plates - right in half. USUALLY - where you cannot see them.
If there is a lot of moisture, then you might look for all the other related problems.......
