Hello from Munich, Germany

Hi -

I'm supposed to introduce myself, so here goes:

I'm an American living in Munich, Germany...been here for ten years. I grew up sailing lasers in South Carolina, but when I moved here I stopped sailing because it takes a lot of time and energy to get a sailing license here....
After ten years, I realized that Germany wasn't going to change the law for me, so I am cramming for my motorboat license (the first one I have to get) and will thereafter be studying for my first sailing license.
I've decided to look at it as a wonderful opportunity to learn the theory behind all the stuff I learned by doing as a kid...but it sure is a lot of stuff. (400 questions, no multiple choice, 90% to pass, and that is just the Motorboat lic.....sailboat is more)
Never one to do anything halfway, I am keen to find a little boat for the beautiful lakes around here, and, if I can afford it, a cruiser for the Med. (All those islands I have visited in the past ten years would be so much better on a boat.)

Wish me luck for my tests....and perhaps we'll meet on the water.
