i have a horse shoe on the back ( or did till recently when the mount broke ) with 50 feet of
line attached with velcro. lift the ring, pull the coil of rope it rips the velcro apart and throw. the end of the rope is also velcroed to the rail. it gives the thrower a chance to hold the
line if the mob is close enough. if the boat keeps going away ie cant get it close enough on the throw and needs to go around it can just tug on the end and its free and wont pull it away from the mob
