Seafarer 29', good first boat?

I have been around boats and the ocean in Maine my whole life, but never sailing. My wife and I have decided we like the idea of it very much and are looking around at the costs involved.

Before we make any purchase we'd be taking sailing classes and talking with as many sail-boat owners as we can. I found a decent looking boat for around 10k, I understand it may cost a bit to fix some things but I have always been ok with some sweat equity. If anybody could tell me a bit about a 1976 Seafarer 29' I'd greatly appreciate it.

Seafarer For Sale is the website of the boat.

Thanks,
Bill.
