Thanks for the visual. I believe both photos were taken in the summer. In winter the peaks would be snow covered.
It is the Athabaska Glacier - part of the Columbia Ice Fields. I have also been looking for the photos that show how the Ice Fields look from below. They used to come right down to the highway; they have retreated a couple of miles.
