First boat purchase

I bought my first boat, a 1990 Catalina 22 last week that I found on Craigslist. $4650 with a mooring in Galesville, MD. Seemed like a pretty good deal. I didn't want to pay slip fees so this seemed like a good fit.

Had it hauled out and they're cleaning, painting and waxing it right now. It needs a new front sail and sail cover. I think I'm going to get the front sail from North Sails Direct ($515) unless someone has a better suggestion.

And I liked the look of the sail covers at canvas and sails. (Can't post a link yet.)

Whoever put that page together is an anal retentive bastard and very proud of their work. I like to give those kinds of people my money.

I did the US Sailing basic keelboat class about three years ago at Washington Sailing Marina and have sailed off and on in the interim. Really wanted something to do on the weekends and a getaway from the city. I've also harbored a sometimes daydream of checking out of the rat race and cruising for an extended period with my wife. This seemed like a pretty good way to start building some experience and enjoying a weekend diversion.
