Adamlein is "spot on" the poll needs serious work before it ready for prime time. That being said and in an effort to get the survey back to some sort of seriousness.
Earlier today I voted breakdown failure of gear. But having all day to think on it I think I would vote for something not offered on the list.
The most to be feared is a medical emergency at sea. It can happen anywhere to anyone. And it can be anything medical. Get bit by a fish you catch and like my dentist friend who had it happen to him in Mexico, he near lost his hand. And he wasn't making any crossing, just some local sailing. And he knew what was happening to him. Somewhere's on one of my computers I have photos he sent. Major infection, within hours his hand was twice its normal size. Joe Sixpack would have lost his hand and perhaps his life. Step wrong on one of those lines everyone seems to want to run into the cockpit and fall and break your ankle or leg. Slip while slicing bread and badly cut your hand, who's going to stitch you up at sea? The list of possibilities is endless. And if it happens at sea and one is not prepared, easily tragic.
