I think mine are 1/2". They're pretty thick and it makes them easier to handle, but it also makes it harder for the sails to fill in light winds. I have a 155% "drifter" and the sheets are much thinner, like 1/4".

I hear soap and water is surprisingly effective. One thing I've heard, but am yet to try, is to put your lines in a mesh bag and put them in the wash.

I think you don't need to worry about products rotting your lines, which are probably made purely of synthetic materials, no?
