My wife & I went out very, very, early in the morning when there was ABSOLUTLY no wind to deal with. We practiced several times in the slip, and then went out to learn how the boat behaved in reverse, stopping distance, etc. Learning when there is no wind was excellent and took out that variable that had us concerned with our boat and the others around us. Everyone has this learning curve, but do try in the morning when there is no wind.
