Boom Vang?
Thanks for the responses. Its not used for an out haul, that rigging is on the port side of the boom. I wonder if maybe it was put there for using the boom to lift somebody or something out of the water? There are two blocks mounted on the starboard side at the end of the boom. One is used for the topping lift. I wonder if the other is for this lifting purpose? I don''t know the load rating for the blocks but at about 1-1/2 inch diameter it looks a little lite duty.
