Looks like electrical conduit to me. We make ribs (arches) of conduit, bending them with a bending tool (borrowed) so that they attach to to the legs with a standard conduit join piece. The pvc tubing we tried several years ago got brittle with the cold, and cracked in lots of places. We run 1x4 furring strips fore & aft, taping them to the conduit ribs, and cover the whole thing with tarps. Holds up well and is cost effective. Shrinkwrap would be more than $400/yr for our boat. Conduit and joins cost about $200, and we spent about $500 for tarps... 12 years ago. We laugh each time we see a shrinkwrapped boat, until we consider its environmental impact and the waste of money it represents.
