I did some research and found that a previous owner also lived in Skagit County and I got in touch with him and asked him about the boat's history. He related to me that he had put a gold coin under the mast when he owned it. We made an offer on the boat but were beat out by someone else. The new owners were going to truck the boat down to California. We put the old owner in touch and he was there when they pulled the stick and got his gold coin back.
Yes, it is always good practice to take pics. I didn't think about the coin. So, if it is not a gold coin (since I am a broke sailing-dad), how much luck can I buy with a Susan B Anthony? What about a .50 piece? Wooden Nickle?

Come on, Ray - I need to know what I get for my money!
