Yours definitely looks adequately engineered. Mine, on the other hand, came with a very flimsy padeye set within the aft slide of the mast. Instead of replacing something that doesn't really work, I thought I would put in a big eye-bolt extending aft to fore, with the nut on the forward side of the mast. I found such a maranized bolt online, but it only comes in a few lengths. One of the sizes is ten inches from the base of the eye to the end of the bolt. This should work perfectly. Unfortunately I don't have access to my boat, so I'm having to rely on my sailor-mench-Catalina-brethern.
