Consider copper! Most of the 'steam risers' mounted on A4's of the 60s and 70s used copper pipe for the 'outter' section of the jacketed exhaust system .... then use judiciously placed 'pencil zincs' (in 'bosses') to protect the copper. If you ever get to see the 'insides' of the '60s and early '70s Pearsons, take a good look if they still have their original exhaust systems ... mostly copper!
