And I thought you guys understood boats.
Here's the thing about leaks - if you want them to leak, they won't. So any deck leaks, any mast step leaks should be incorporated into your water collection system. Ergo, no longer a problem.
I have noticed that deck scuppers and cockpit drains can be completely negated by a single little leaf, able to hold back many gallons of water.
You have seen it too, I am sure.
So forget fancy mast boots; don't even consider tubes of caulk, or any other anti-leak schemes. Place a leaf above any suspected source of leak or place a hose that will shunt any deck leak into your water tank. The leak will vanish.
If that fails, always remember, without deck leaks, how would you know where to store your buckets?
