True story. A friend used a road map to go down the St. Lawrence. At night every time he switched the red light over the chart table on, all the lines on the map disappeared. He thought he'd had too many refreshments! Finally figured out that the red road lines disappeared with the red light. By the way, they finally ran aground and damaged the keel badly. They were following a light on the other side of a promontory. Went straight in to the shore, in the morning they wondered how they had missed all the rocks going in! This guy was great singlehanding across the Atlantic but don't put him anywhere near land!!
