I like swing keels/centerboard better - they can be heavier too which gives ballast - ballast and hull design are the major factors in stability - on the other hand a light rig is easier to right by yourself if capsized - then you can continue to sail instead of being stuck out there waiting for help. PS hit the library - I've got two books out right know on sailing and learning tons more than on the internet
