I don't think it's a very good idea, but if you do it pay close attention to making the mast slide easily where it rests on the trailer- because it will slide constantly and if it binds or wears through it will destroy the mast.

If you have a trailer for the boat, you should be able to lash the mast to the trailer only. How long is it?

My C22 (for example) has a 25 foot mast, which could easily be lashed to it's trailer without too much overhang.
