ip38 front Head

The sanitation hose to the front head of our IP38/137 is leaking. We need to replace it-not a nice job . Before doing this we are looking at alternatives. The best seems to be a new thru hole up front .Has anyone done this and where is the best place for the thru hole?
Another suggestion is to fit a check valve but someone has said it will cause problems after a while. Is a check valve are workable solution to the problem of connected heads?
Have just logged on to this site after a couple of years -its changed a bit .Cant find any thread on this topic but I'm sure its come up before,if someone could please point me in the right direction
We left New Zealand two years ago aboard Largo Star and are now in Malaysia, despite the heads, we remain very happy with our boat especialy the way she sails in all conditions.
