Wed night races in Annapolis

I read about the wed. night races in Annapolis in last weeks Washington Post. The article mentioned that some boats will take on crew that don't have a ton of experience, does anyone know how that works? Do you just go to the marina and let the marina know your interested in crewing? I took a ASA basic sailing class a few years back, but haven't sailed in 4 years and don't have a lot of time on the water but I want to get back into it now that I'm back near water (was living in Denver). The Wed. night races sounded like a fun way to get back on the water, if anyone knows how signing up to crew works I'd appreciate hearing about it! Thanks in advance, Tim
