Sorry I did not get on before. For night life Sag harbor is good. You can also try Sunset Beach on Shelter Island. Cedar Island light house is somewhat exposed for anchoring, if you come down that far I would suggest going to either Coecles harbor in Shelter Island (beautiful but quiet) or Three Mile Harbor in East Hampton, both far better protected. Lots of anchorage in Three Mile Harbor. Good restaurants as well. East Hampton Point seems mostly closed past Labor Day, but the Boat House (on Harbor Marina) has a pretty lively scene.
