You know, one of the things he mentioned looking for was the "ripple" action in the water from islands. Now this guy was still a couple hundred miles from Guadeloupe, but knew that he'd be able to see this wave pattern amongst the "standard" wave trains of the open ocean.

That really astounded me - not being an ocean sailor. It makes perfect sense - but actually being able to eventually see that kind of subtlety in the things around me will be extremely cool.

That is, until a freakin' whale lands on my boat.
