I am about to buy an older Seafarer 22 sailboat and one of the many things that I am going to do it rework the power set-up on the boat. I want to install a small wind turbine to help with charging the battery bank. Would installing the turbine atop the mast be a poor idea? I thought that being up-high, it would be out of the way of people as well as get a better flow of wind yet I am worried about the weight. The turbines weight between 17-30 pounds.
