If you have soft ply in the bulkheads at the chain plates this is indicitave of long standing leakage there. A proper repair is a major project and I would re evaluate the deal - you better be getting a substantial price break on this. And you'd best be very comfortable using tools, working with fibreglass, and wood.

It's do-able but its not for the faint of heart!
