For what it is worth, depending on the design of the boat neither mastbend nor rake automatically means greater forestay tension. Prebend can be induced into a spar with high amounts of shroud tension, or with babystay tension on a masthead rig, which in terms slightly shortens the length of the mast loosening the forestay. By the same token, a mast can be further raked by loosening the forestay.
