The rubber end of the dipstick is a giveaway. It is a SEAL. Run the engine, turn it off, then slightly lift up the dipstick to break the seal, wait a moment, then re-insert to read the oil level. You may have to rub the dipstick off doing this. I check my oil level before I start the engine: pull the stick out, break the seal, reinsert, read level. Most all Universal engines are like this.
