I am assuming that the term "carrier bearing" refers to the bearing supporting the shaft between the transmission and the cutlass bearing. My '73 Morgan OI has the original bearing at this "half" bulkhead here and I did feel that it was warmer and noisier than it should be at a time in the past. I have been attentive to keeping it well greased. but I do expect to change it at my next haul out. I expect to pull the shaft at this time and replace the cutlass bearing too. I am not expecting difficulty in alligning the bearing. I would expect to mount it loosely at then look for a final adjustment while running it at low rpm to assure centering.
