Just spent my Border's 50% off coupon (today only) on Two Years Before the Mast and Flotsam and Jetsam by Robb White
Two Years was only $6.95 so I couldn't see wasting a half-off coupon on such an inexpensive book. Flotsam and Jetsam was on the shelf near it and looked great. It's a collection of short stories/tales/essays "from those who spent a lifetime messing about in boats" It was $10 with the coupon, and most of the stories are 2-5 pages so it'll be nice for reading a quick one before bed or something.
I'd like to add my +1 for Rounding the Horn -- I got it for free from the local literacy council's table at a Starbucks. Really enjoyed it, then gave it to a non-sailor relative who really liked it.
Adrift - the one about William Willis on his raft -- also a great one. Bought that in Maine on a cruise and had it done before the approach to Baltimore. It was even more magical reading it sitting on the the lowest open deck of the ship looking out at the waves.
Keep the expenses low and the good times high.
