Setting the anchor slowly by letting the wind blow you back on it is a good idea,I snub the Rhode a few times as I let it out to help it set. Some times there isn't enough wind to set the anchor so backing down on it slowly, is the only way to set it. Once you get it to hold, back down with more power to test it. If it pulls out it wasn't set properly. Pull it up and do it again. I use 1400 rpm on a 38ft sail boat to test the set. It is always a good idea to dive on the anchor to make sure it is dug in properly.
