Rantha: When I posted my message, I posted the wrong year of the Pearson. Mine is a 1972 with a Hull #234. Yours probably is correct with # 288. See if there is an oblong shaped plastic placque just below the companionway; on that plaque will (should) show you what the Hull # is for the boat. Only place on the boat to tell you this info.
