Agreed, you were going with schedule 80 you could probably go with 2 inch on a boat that size.

I once made a adjustable whisker pole with 2" and a piece of 1 1/2" that slid on the inside of the 2" all out of schedule 40 for a 19 foot Y- Flyer that I had at the time. It worked well.
