In the late 70s I was the Training commodore at San Diego Naval Sailing Club.
Was a Boatswain Mate in the Navy and worked commercially since retiring in Jan. '79. Once owned a Catalina 30, the wicked Ex sold it while I was working at sea.
Am now an instructor for those who want their 100/200 Master/Mates USCG licenses. And now looking for a live aboard Sail boat to travel with.
I figure that I'm as qualified as any of those civilian org's. Maybe more so...
But you know that Retired Boatswain Mates are very very knowledgable.
