The only problem with the compression fittings is that if you are ever in timbuk2, and either develop a leak, a block (this is becoming more of an issue as they add stuff other than diesel to diesel), or want to reroute the hose through the new filter that you had to buy, because they don't stock the elements for the filter that you have, you're SOL...
That's possible - though you should be able to recycle any fittings that are either barbed or NPT. The compr. fitting itself (ie the ferrule seal) should not fail unless badly installed in the first place.
I don't believe that the fuel line up to the injector pump is under more than 5psi.
Indeed, ours is under suction as the injector pump acts as a lift pump too.
