I recently bought one with dreams of sailing long distance. The thing is certainly a hefty beast compared to my old Catalina 27.
Most of the issues commonly found on these boats had been corrected on mine: the teak decks had been replaced and rebuilt with fiberglass, the wooden mast had been exchanged for aluminum, the boat had been rewired, and the tanks had been replaced. All my hardware is pretty new too so I haven't struggled with the original boatyard's equipment.
The head on mine seems to have been configured for a shower which drained into the bilge, though someone removed it at one point. It would be quite cramped to stick one in there, but I'm thinking of doing it.
It's a good boat, and I think I'll be sticking with mine a long time, but most of the hard stuff was done for me. If it hadn't been done, I don't think I would have bought it.
