Lake Thurmond, GA/SC

1,200 miles of shoreline, 71,000 acres of water, perfect for gunkholing. Best of all my dock is 27 minutes from my home, 16 minutes from my office. We take her out a lot of weekends if we are in town, tons of long holiday weekends and I'm always looking for a reason -- good or not --- to go check on the boat or take out someone on the boat.

All freshwater, some day we may just have her shipped down to the coast and head south -- or not. Once we tie up to the dock and button her up, we are just a bit from the house so we are able to take her out a lot and we love it.

To each their own, we'd love to be on the ocean but duty requires us to stay home so we are quite grateful for the large lake to sail. We see eagles, deer, fox, hear owls a hootin', swim, nap, grill and repeat...

Water is water to me, I take what I can get and am grateful as I've found most sailors are.
